This 2020 novel by Bulgarian writer Georgi Gospodinov — honoured with the prestigious International Booker Prize — offers a strikingly original take on human memory and the passing of time.

The plot centres on an unusual clinic in Switzerland, created by Gaustine for patients living with Alzheimer’s. Each floor precisely recreates a different decade of the 20th century, offering patients a safe haven in realities they still remember.
